Bar Monkey Festival 2019
Message from Jamie Geraghty:
What an amazing day we had at this years Bar Monkey Festival!
A big thank you to everyone that showed up to get involved and support. It was a great turnout and we are delighted that the Irish Calisthenics Community came out in force on Saturday!
A huge well done to our main event athletes Flyn Kennedy, Luke Bailey and Nic and Demi from the UK.
These were two great battles between both and they were amazing performances to watch!
Flyn and Luke both threw some crazy dynamic moves, while Demi and Nic showed some serious static strength, and all four showcased why they were involved in the main event.
In the end I think both winners were deserved, flyn threw some crazy dynamics moves while Nic had amazing statics, but I feel Flyn had more statics than Nic had dynamics, and that’s what won it for him.
By the same token, I feel Demi had better transitions than Luke, and in two out of three categories Demi won so I feel he was also the deserved winner.
Take nothing away from all four of these athletes, they all put on an amazing performance and in my opinion showed why I think all four are the future of the sport, in Ireland and the UK.
I would also like to thank everyone who attended to show support and get involved!
I would like to think there was plenty to try out! There was a perfect mix of freestlyle calisthenics as well as sets and reps challenges.
A big thanks to Calisthenics Equipment NI for providing an entire floor of parallettes! Thi give everyone an opportunity to take part in their challenges - longest L-Sit hold won a free pair of parallettes!
Also big thanks to Luke Hand - Irish Calisthenics Academy - and Ally Kane - Bar Wars Ireland - for setting up a series of sets and reps challenges and the energy in the room this provided!
Massive thanks once again to all who came out to support the event - The Calisthenics Community came out in force!
